Creating Wires
Published: Saturday, January 14th. 2006.

This tutorial will show you how to create wires in Blender3D using bezier curves.

Open up Blender and delete the default square. Now hit space bar and select add, curve, then bezier curve.

Now you can arange your curve how you want the wire to look (turn on 3D under editing F9 key). and move it around in editing mode by hitting tab when your done hit tab again and then your back in object mode.

This is what mine looks like so far:

Now you add a bezier circle: spacebar, add, curve, bezier circle. Hit tab to get out of edit mode. You can put this on a different layer if you want to. (m)

Go and select your wire and goto editing (F9) and now put the name of the bezier circle under BevOb

Here is what it looks like:

Now look at the 3D window, you can see that the wire is very thick, so to fix that select your bezier circle and scale (S Key) it to make it smaller to your standers.

Your final result can look something like this:

Using bezier curves for objects like wires is much easier and better looking then actual mesh because when you rotate parts in the bezier curve it doesn't distort the shape, it just looks smooth.
